How do you remain a whole person in a job that can demand ever-increasing amounts of your time?

Hosted by aspiring academic Rebekah Pullen (Season 1), this series of interviews will look at ‘how’ people have built and managed careers in academia, exploring some of the potentials, pitfalls, and positives. Aimed at early career scholars (graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and ECRs) our guests share the lessons they've learned, the advice they've been given, and the successes that have shaped their careers. Liam Midzain-Gobin

Associate Professor, Political Science, Brock University

Liam Midzain-Gobin is a settler scholar, and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University. His research focuses on how settler colonialism has persisted into today, and how Indigenous peoples are revitalising their own governance practices to undermine it. Dr. Midzain-Gobin is author of Settler Colonial Sovereignty: Visions of Improvement and Indigenous Erasure (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2025), with other work in Millennium: Journal of International Studies and Security Dialogue, among other journals. Dr. Midzain-Gobin is also Associate Editor with Critical Studies on Security.
